About Me

The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is a prestigious annual event that begins on December 26th in Sydney, Australia, and ends in Hobart, Tasmania. First held in 1945, the race covers approximately 630 nautical miles through challenging and often treacherous waters, including the notorious Bass Strait. It attracts competitors ranging from amateur sailors to world-class crews, making it one of the most significant and grueling offshore yacht races in the world. The race is known for its intense competition, dramatic finishes, and the unpredictable weather conditions that can make or break a race. I am excited to be entering this years race as the youngest female Skipper, sailing Double handed with the talented Wendy Tuck. A all female crew, hoping to achieve great results.

About Me:
I am a 25-year-old British-born, now Australian resident, who has devoted my life to becoming a full-time professional offshore sailor and racer. I am currently based in Sydney, where I have spent much of the past 5 years living.
My sailing journey began racing Lasers and RS Fevas in the UK, which eventually led to some F18 racing in the south of France and a number of offshore races along the East Coast of Australia. Outside of racing, I am also a fully qualified offshore YachtMaster, and have both skippered and crewed on a variety of sailing vessels. From the age of 17 I have also worked as a RYA windsurfing, sailing and surf instructor across the Mediterranean and here in Sydney.

2 years ago, I began a circumnavigation on a Swan 65 (Ocean Racing Yacht) called EVE with my partner. We sailed from Sydney to England via Indonesia, crossing the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Mediterranean, and then the Bay of Biscay to the UK. We have logged 20,000 nautical miles in the last 2.5 years aboard EVE and have plans to be based in the Mediterranean for the next two seasons. We raced the Swan in the 2021 Sydney to Hobart and the Rolex Fastnet Race in 2023. We also raced ion the offshore racing circuit between France and the UK and subsequently sailed the boat 2,000 nautical miles back from France to Barcelona double-handed.

My Campaign:

Race 1: Flinders Islet Race – September 21

Race 2: Tollgate Islands Race – October 18

Race 3: Bird Island Race – November 16

Race 4: Cabbage Tree Island Race – December 6

Race 5: Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race – December 26

I will want to approach this campaign with complete professionalism and competitiveness, aiming for a top position. I am confident in my ability and am lucky to have the support of a dedicated team comprising friends, family, fellow sailors, and boat builders who are committed to assisting me in preparing both myself and my boat for the race.

My Intentions:
In addition to my personal ambitions, my campaign has a broader purpose - to encourage greater participation of young women in offshore racing, particularly those from Australia where opportunities in solo racing are limited. I recognize the power of modern media and aim to garner substantial publicity for the class and the sport as a whole. As a part-time photographer, I will capture the breathtaking moments of my journey, providing engaging content that showcases the beauty and challenges of offshore racing. I have been a lone female crew member among up to 16 men in previous yacht races, and I am passionate about representing the females in this traditionally male-dominated sport.
Following the Sydney to Hobart, I intend to take the Figaro another step further and race in Europe on the circuit around the west coast of France. I hope that my accomplishments will open doors to more offshore racing opportunities and inspire young individuals to embark on the exhilarating journey of sailing.

Opportunities:
To Aid my campaign, I am actively seeking sponsorship. In return, I offer the following benefits to potential sponsors:

  • Brand Exposure: Prominent display of the sponsor's brand on my racing gear, boat, and team uniforms.

  • Media Coverage: Regular updates on my sailing journey, with the inclusion of the sponsor's name and logo in press releases, social media posts, and other media coverage of my races.

  • Event Appearances: Commitment to making appearances on behalf of the sponsor at events, trade shows, and promotional activities.

  • Content Creation: Utilising my social media following to create engaging content, including videos, blogs, and posts featuring the sponsor's products or services.

  • Data and Analytics: Offering data on the reach and impact of the sponsorship, including, social media engagement, and exposure metrics.

Sailing isn't just my career; it's my lifelong passion. It represents freedom, adventure, and a connection to nature that's deeply ingrained in
who I am..... I want to dispel the myth that it's
exclusive and reserved for the elite. Sailing is

diverse, teaching life skills, teamwork, and respect for the environment. I'm committed to showing the world how incredible sailing is and that with enough dedication, anyone can sail.

RAISING MONEY FOR BREAST CANCER
I think that my offshore sailing campaign holds a great opportunity for raising money for charity. It will give my adventures a greater purpose, and with Both my Mother and Grandmother diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, it will be a chance to raise money for a cause I hold close to my heart.
